Congrats! Thanks for sharing the behind the scenes! I’m 4 weeks away from my release and this reassured me that I’m on the right track as far as the prep goes.

Congratulations!

I figured that sharing some of my journey might help people who are interested in trying it out for themselves, and maybe, just maybe, it would encourage them to pursue the goal.

Congrats! That is an amazing release for self-publishing. My release in November felt much the same, incredibly blessed by the outpouring of support.

A word of encouragement based on my experience… I’m a very data driven mind, it’s part of my day job, but after a month or two I found myself checking the numbers far too often. So I settled into the mantra, “I measure obedience daily, and fruit seasonally.”

Staying faithful daily to the steps to market and get the book to all the people who need it, continuing writing, sharing, etc… and then once a month I review the fruit of obedience. It was truly freeing.

Praying for continued success and that your book reaches everyone who needs it most!

I appreciate the feedback, brother!

Looking at things daily versus seasonally is definitely a good framework. I'm not a super data-driven guy, but it is a helpful metric at times.

This week, I was definitely guilty of checking daily (honestly, more than daily!), mainly out of curiosity, having no idea how this project would do. This was my very first book.

I have been overjoyed and humbled by the response.

Already there 😂

My next agenda item is a children's Bible for family discipleship.

Then I'd like to finish editing my last year's devotional collection and have it as a big volume people could go through in a year.

Then I'd really like to write a book based on some of my sermons through Malachi. A rough working title is something like "Already Enough: Serving God When Life Sucks."

I just have limited time, as we all do. I'm hoping to reorganize my weekly schedule a bit to finish a few more things like this. It's just a lot on top of my daily writing on the weekdays.

Maybe next year I'd take a year off and spend that time editing/finishing stuff 🤷

Between sermons, my book, and my devotionals last year, I probably cranked out over 1000 pages of stuff 😅

That is incredible work! I wonder how much I have written and saved that could be edited and compiled. I have dreams of writing children curriculum and family Bible study guides.

After a while of just winging it, I started being more intentional with organizing my stuff and that has been paying off immensely.

Overhead is much, much better.

At least on Amazon, it’s next to nothing compared to print books. My ebook is $7 cheaper, and I make just about the same per unit. It might be a touch higher than print, I can’t remember.

But I still love an actual printed book.
