Good reminder to keep our eye on the big picture. Getting so intwined in knowing the exact “when” is a classic case of missing the forest for the tree. The forest being the “readiness” to receive Him that you speak of.

Yeah it slips our minds frequently. I even misspoke in my sermon yesterday from Ecclesiastes, saying “We’re all going to die.” Usually I qualify it with “Unless Christ returns” to keep these things in mind and yesterday it slipped my mind in that part of the message. One of my congregants graciously pointed that out.
I did preach a series through 2 Peter shortly after moving here and that was the crux of the series and most times I get it right and remember to include it, but I'm far from perfect!
