Josiah, your reflections on the return of Christ are both timely and comforting. It is true that trying to predict the exact time of Christ’s return has been a trap for many believers throughout history, yet Scripture reminds us clearly that no one knows the day or the hour not even the Son during His earthly ministry (Matthew 24:36). Paul’s words to the Thessalonians are profound: “Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-2). This emphasizes the need for readiness, not speculation. The focus is not on fear or trying to unravel the signs of the times, but on living faithfully in Christ, being watchful, and encouraging one another (1 Thessalonians 5:11) As Paul also writes, “For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with Him (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10). This assures us that the return of Christ is not a cause for terror but a source of hope Jesus holds the end of the story, and we can trust Him completely, knowing that even if the timing is unknown, His victory is certain (Revelation 22:12-13). As believers, whether here in the U.S. in India, or anywhere around the world, we share in this blessed hope, and it should inspire us to live with holiness, love, and faithfulness today (2 Peter 3:11-12). A challenging question to reflect upon might be If we truly believed Christ could return at any moment, how would it change the way we live, serve, and love others each day?
